“I dunno, I know, the sakura matsuri is Japanese, but you don’t have to cosplay AT EVERY JAPANESE THING. ” UGH THANK YOU. I’ve been thinking this for years…there is a time and a place and sakura matsuri /= con
<3333 I went to the website for the Sakura Matsuri and I dunno there is a cosplay fashion show with white girls wearing ‘asian inspired’ clothing and an anime comedian, whatever that means >_> and there is a parade with cosplayers… I would really prefer this to be a Japanese thing, not what otakus perceive is Japanese.
YES, IN AMERICA YOU MUST COSPLAY AT EVERYTHING THAT REMOTELY INVOLVES JAPANESE CULTURE. But seriously, don’t worry about it too much. I’m sure the festivals will be fun~
Yesssss the plan is, chicken and waffles at Auntie Ruthies in Harlem, and then the Sakura Masturi and then the movies ~ <33333 SO I’m hoping it will be fun. AND I KNOWWWWWW!!! Like I was an otaku but then I realized, I was acting like a jackass, at 15(a little late I know) and I stopped. I still read manga and shit but I’m not going to act like reading manga somehow makes me Japanese.
skipping it this year - I love the blossoms, but cosplayers outside of anime conventions annoy me :/
is it really bad??? T^T I haven’t been in years and last time I was there, I saw like, five cosplayers but from the photos from the past years that number has exploded o-o
